The Team

Meet the Exec Team

The SUABE executives are elected annually from our members and are comprised of a number of talented and dedicated individuals.

Meet your team for 2023-2024:

President Lexi Osler

Our fearless leader and the heart of the SUABE family – Miss. Lexi Osler! Lexi has been a part of SUABE for three years now – graduating from a fun and energetic first-year rep to a wonderfully organised secretary and now our amazing pres – and rumour is that this is going to be her biggest year yet! Whether it be giving tours of our brand-new biomed building, studying second year subjects or fine tuning the secret SUABE pancake recipe with a pipette and calculator, Lexi lives and breathes biomedical engineering (but preferably not mechanics – just the biomedical side; real engineering!) After her time as a biomed engineering and med science double degree student, she plans on pursuing a career in tissue engineering, which will be a fine addition to a field that will have to do some serious preparation, because no one will know what has hit them when she enters as a fresh intern! On the off chance she’s not at Uni, Lexi can be found tearing up on the basketball courts, sitting behind a piano, serving celebs at Coogee Pav or getting her regular adrenaline rush watching countless horror movies! Whatever she is doing, however, Lexi is full of passion and SUABE is so lucky to be the beneficiary of this enthusiasm and her amazing vision of just how high this society can go in the next 12 months!

Vice President ISABELLA GOODWIN

A kind, always smiley, witty and just overall astonishing person, SUABE is so excited to introduce our new Vice President… Izzy!! With an endless number of broken bones, skim flat whites and perfect pancake flips, Izzy has dedicated her hard work to sponsorship on SUABE for the past year and this year has moved up the ranks to Vice president for 2023/24. Devoted to her studies of biomedical engineering and medical science, she somehow (very elegantly) juggles her fabulous friends, her family back up in the central coast and her plethora of jobs giving each the devoted attention they require. Awakening her inner adventurer, Izzy spends hours going for long walks while planning and daydreaming about her overseas travels and studies for the future. A plant lover and the ultimate foodie, in her spare time you will likely find Izzy roaming many new restaurants to find the perfect plate, putting on a fabulous dance performance for her college team (if she isn’t injured of course), or blasting a complete collection of Taylor Swift in the car on her way home. We are more than excited to see where Izzy’s cheerful spirit, optimism and of course, remarkable email writing skills will take SUABE this year.

Treasurer  Grace O’DONNELL

The gorgeous Grace is moving up from first year rep to SUABE’s new treasurer!! She’s an incredibly warm and supportive person, and will be managing SUABE’s finances this year whilst repping her ever-growing collection of merch. That is, until she goes off on a European adventure and forgets about the struggles of engineering to breeze through commerce and explore the world. Despite Grace’s love of gruesome medical shows and unsolved murder podcasts, she never wanted to be a doctor and was actually planning on studying architecture. But that all changed when she met our new president Lexi when playing basketball, and heard all about the wonders of biomedical engineering. Other than competing in interfaculty basketball and cheering on the Dragons, Grace is learning German, rereading AND rewatching all of Harry Potter, and sharing her many talents with SUEUA. Grace can truly do it all, and her back pain from carrying the weight of her many responsibilities (and a lack of Pilates) is just one example.

Secretary Sam Barron

They say for every minute spent organising, an hour is earned. Well, I think our spectacular, successful, selfless sunshine of a Secretary has finally unlocked the key to an engineering student’s quest for more time. With every minute of her life controlled by the intricate details and colour coding of her google calendar, Sam doesn’t miss a beat. Sam is the girl you aspire to be: a Biomedical Engineering/Commerce student, a sought-after employee in her array of jobs, an early nighter, early morning, lover of sleep, a classic yet classy soy latte addict (along with a cheeky sweet treat from the cabinet of course), an avid hiker and traveller, a could have been water polo Olympian, a fun, outgoing extrovert who is adored by her wide friendship circles, and wait for it… a huge book and podcast lover. True perfection. And did I mention she’s organised?! Sam is extremely hard working and was an asset to the team as first-year rep and is already keeping SUABE in line; proving she was made for this role as secretary. All I can say is - google calendar; do not break down!!

Sponsorship Officer  Nick ward

Nick is a man of many talents, many jobs, and much caffeine. A day in the life of Nick looks something like this: A flat white made from his state of the art coffee machine to start the morning, perhaps a cappuccino if he’s feeling quirky. Travelling to uni in peak hour, Nick manages a double degree in biomedical engineering with medical science whilst also being an integral character in the SUABE narrative. His experience with tutoring has taught him the wondrous ways of professional email writing; a skill many can only dream of. After hours of MATLAB coding and electrifying worms in his bioelec labs, he is off to work at Coles. Time flies on the job, and eventually he heads home to submit an assignment at exactly 11:59pm on the dot. Nick is an almighty achiever who also works as a swim coach, plays touch football with friends AND coaches rugby; all of which broaden his skillset and make him an incredible people’s person. Aspirations for after uni include working in medicine and with doctors as Nick has an undeniable passion for helping others. He is approachable, chatty and enthusiastic, perfectly suiting him for the role of Sponsorship Officer. There is no doubt that Nick will strengthen the beautiful bond SUABE has with its sponsors, and will be a great asset to the team!

Marketing Officer  ZOE SULLIVAN

There is no one better suited for a marketing role than our artistic queen Zoe Sullivan. Her creative mind knows no bounds and that’s sure to be represented in all the killer designs headed your way over the next year. Always up for a chat, Zoe’s sociable and easy-going nature promises good vibes to everyone she talks to. Saving on costs for her Europe summer trip, you’ll find Zoe heating up her home-made meals in the microwave - an inspiration to us all - but is sure to help finish any leftovers. She’s excited to come into SUABE as marketing officer and share all her amazing designs and expertise with the society.

Second Year Representatives

Salina PERERA

Introducing Salina! A natural-born basketball prodigy and second-year SUABE representative. When she's not catching same-day domestic flights to dunk on the opps, you’ll find Salina studying hard in the SCITECH library. Ironically, as an engineer, she isn’t a big fan of maths, physics or coding; nonetheless, it doesn't diminish her passion for exploring the intricacies of the biomedical field. We are thrilled to have Salina on our team; after all, her role at SUABE follows her successful stint as the sports representative at Brigidine! Approachable, chatty, and enthusiastic, don’t be afraid to say hi; you’ll know it’s her cause she won't be wearing pink, despite it being her favourite colour!

Eimear HARDING

Introducing everybody's favourite redhead; our legendary second year rep Eimear Harding. Representing the second years in both SUWIE and SUABE she's always got our best interests at heart. As the youngest of four sisters she's a dedicated family girl and is just as enthused to give a helping hand in our SUABE family. Whether it's heading off on the CUBS trip to try skiing for the very first time or loyally representing us engineers in interfaculty sport, Eimear is an energetic girl who is always ready to try something new. Keen to keep learning and discovering where she wants to head in the biomedical field, Eimear is excited to lead in SUABE. Don't be afraid to say hi if you see her hanging in JOE!

First Year Representatives

MATTHEW BUTLER

Matt is a charismatic, enthusiastic, and bright first year, excited to take on the role as first year rep for SUABE! He has hit the ground running working very hard through his Biomedical Engineering degree and is keen to explore the wide range of opportunities Biomed has to offer. He likes trying new things, is a mountain biking extraordinaire and is an asset on the rugby field. Matt is welcoming, relatable and hardworking, values forming connections and is willing to help at any opportunity, so don’t be afraid to say hi next time you see him in PNR. After all, it’s in the name, Matt Butler is here to help. We’re very excited to have him on the SUABE team!

DAISY WEIGHT

Creative, independent, and warm *drummmm rollllllll* meet Daisy, one of our amazing First Year Reps on the SUABE team! She has defied the odds whilst studying the IB and graduating with only 17 other students and now you can find her studying handwritten code and concocting different poisons for advanced chemistry. When she’s not studying in J03 you can find Daisy knee deep in a Science Podcast, a Boxing Class or swiftly walking away from organised sport as it is the bane of her existence. Daisy's passion for Biomedical Engineering shines through as she is forging her own path, courageously breaking free from the mould of her artistically inclined family. We are so happy to have Daisy join the team this year and her organisation and teamwork skills will really shine in the role of first year rep.
